The 2020 Buckeye Packer Backers / On Tap Pub Experience

The On Tap Pub has been following all of the Covid-19 rules and regulations set up by the state of Ohio and the city of Columbus, and this means things look and feel very different at our BPB home. Here's what to expect:

The number of persons allowed in the bar at one time has been reduced to 45. This figure includes the patio. Our hosts, Jen and Jamie will monitor the crowd as they arrive. Once the 45 limit has been reached no one else will be allowed in until someone else leaves.
There are several ways this will affect our game days at OTP.
First, obviously, it will be harder to get a seat. The Tap has completely rearranged its layout, with tables distanced at least 6 feet apart. There are no longer any barstools at the bar. Just a few tables set up right in front of the bar, and then other tables spread out at the proper distance around the space.
Here is what the bar area looks like now...

Another impact is that with fewer seats, the revenue of the OTP has been drastically reduced. So, we ask that if you decide to attend a game, that you keep in mind the welfare of the bar, its owners and its staff. Please come prepared to spend some money. The OTP is, after all, a business and it needs our patronage.

When you enter the Tap, you must wear a mask. You can remove your mask when you are sitting at the table you have chosen, but any time you move away from that table you must wear a mask. Any extra movements are discouraged, meaning that unless you are heading for the restroom or the front or back door you should stay in your seat. There will be no "mingling." You can no longer move from table to table. Any interaction will have to take place from your seat.

At the moment Columbus has instituted a 10 p.m. curfew for bars and this will be strictly enforced. It doesn't matter if a late game is still going at 10 p.m., you will need to leave.

As always, the On Tap Pub is a 21 and over establishment. Anyone under 21 will not be allowed to enter.

Our Charity
Covid-19 means less people attending our Packer home, the On Tap Pub on game day. Less attendance means there are fewer people contributing to our annual charity.
With this in mind, Russ Miller, our charity guru, Kathy Kuhns, our BPB secretary, Brian Rigg, Mayor of Packerville and Gary Wolter, your website director, have decided to forgo picking a charity this year. Our contribution would be so small we thought it best to roll monies that are collected this year into next year's coffers. We will still offer the 50/50 in the weeks when it is practical, but any contributions will be used for the charity we pick at the beginning of next season.
We hope that things return to normal next year so that we can once again have an impact on a deserving local charity.

Facebook and Contact Us
Jeff Pinkham continues to do a great job updating our Facebook page with new content. Go HERE to check it out.
You can contact the BPB through email with any questions.

It is possible that over the season the rules and regulations affecting bars will change. They could become less stringent, or even more restrictive depending on the ebb and flow of the virus. We can't know. But I think if we all make an effort to be considerate of the people around us we can make this a really fun Packer experience.
